Longtime Medford Firefighter Stephen Pina Passes Away

MEDFORD, MA – A 43-year veteran of the Medford Fire Department has passed away. Stephen Pina, 64, died due to occupational cancer, the department announced Friday.

Pina joined the Medford Fire Department in 1976. During his decades of service, he was assigned to Engine 4, Engine 5, Engine 6 and Ladder 2.

Pina was months away from retirement, according to the department.

"Please keep Firefighter Pina’s family and loved ones in mind during this difficult time," the department said in a statement. "The announcement of his services will be to follow."
