Lungo-Koehn Administration: Who's New, Who's Staying At City Hall
Most department heads will remain, but the search is on for a few key roles at City Hall.

MEDFORD, MA — Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced the hiring of David Rodrigues as her Chief of Staff this week. Rodrigues previously served as the Assistant Town Manager of Winthrop and Assistant City Solicitor and Senior Advisor to the Mayor of Everett. He will be responsible for overseeing daily City Hall operations, policy development, strategic communications and implementing other aspects of the mayor's agenda.
"I am honored to join Mayor Lungo-Koehn's team at an exciting time for Medford," Rodrigues said in a statement. "I look forward to getting to work to help make her vision for the city a reality."
The staff at city hall will include Daria Shutova, who will serve as Executive Assistant and Office Manager for the mayor. Among other tasks, Shutova will be responsible for managing the mayor's scheduling requests.

Most department heads will continue in their roles, but the city will begin searching for three key staffers: City Solicitor, Director of Economic Development and Treasurer.
Solicitor Mark Rumley retired Jan. 3 after more than 30 years with the city. Kimberly Scanlon will serve as Acting City Solicitor until a permanent candidate is hired. Private Counsel will also be available during the interim period.

Retired Treasurer Alfred Pompeo will join the administration on a temporary, part-time basis to until a new Treasurer is hired.
The Director of Economic Development is a new position charged with growing jobs and commercial investment in Medford and with seeking state, federal and private grants in support of the city's vibrancy and infrastructure.
"I walked into a city hall filled with hardworking and capable public servants," Lungo-Koehn said in a statement. "The talented employees who have left to pursue other opportunities or to enjoy well-deserved retirement leave large shoes to fill. With the talented existing staff, fresh ideas of our new team members now on board and coming in the months ahead, and an aligned vision for leading transparently and with an eye towards professionalism, I am excited about what the Medford government can achieve in the coming months and years."
