Medford To Accept Donations For New Library, Fire Station

The city council approved accounts for a fire station fund and library fund this week.

MEDFORD, MA – The city this week approved another outlet of funding for a new Medford Public Library and fire station – resident donations. The city council unanimously voted in favor of Mayor Stephanie M. Burke's requests to create library and fire department donation accounts May 8, according to the Medford Transcript.

One city councilor also floated the idea of creating a fund for the police department. Once the accounts are up, residents may contribute to one or more capital projects, the Transcript reported. All proceeds will fund the selected project.

Other methods of donation are also being considered, such as allowing residents to contribute through their tax bill.
