Medford Athletes Take Part in Concussion Awareness Week
Former New England Revolution star Taylor Twellman established the initiative in 2011 after being forced to retire from Major League Soccer.

MEDFORD, MA – This week, athletes at Medford High School and Medford Vocational Technical High School will take part in the ThinkTaylor Concussion Awareness Week.
The partnership between the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association, the Massachusetts Concussion Management Coalition, the Concussion Legacy Foundation and the Dr. Robert Cantu Concussion Center encourages athletes to pledge to be healthier and smarter athletes.
According to the ThinkTaylor website, the initiative was established in 2011 by former New England Revolution star Taylor Twellman. Twellman was inspired to educate young athletes on the long-term affects of concussions after being forced into retirement by post-concussion syndrome.

Through the ThinkTaylor Foundation, the athletes will raise awareness for concussion safety, receive education and learn to be supportive of those suffering from a concussion.
"Each athlete will receive an orange bag tag. It will remind the athlete of the pledge and of concussion symptoms. As the ThinkTaylor Foundation states, we have only one brain and it needs to last a lifetime," Bob Maloney, Medford's athletic director, said in a press release.
