Medford City Hall Chambers Gets Tech Upgrade
The Alden Memorial Chambers operating system is now completely digital, according to officials.
MEDFORD, MA — The Alden Memorial Chambers in Medford City Hall received key technology upgrades this summer, Mayor Stephanie M. Burke announced last week. The new audio system is an all-digital conference system with eight table microphones for those behind the rail, a microphone for those speaking at the podium and two handheld microphones for presentations.
Additional speakers were installed, and existing speakers were incorporated into the new system to enhance the sound quality. By using the existing speakers, the city saved money on parts and labor.
"The new technology will make a remarkable difference for all who engage in meetings inside the Chambers," Burke said in a statement. "The clarity of the audio will allow those viewing at home the ability to hear and understand clearly what transpires at meetings."

The new system has replaced the old rusting metal control unit with a wireless iPad as its controller. This combined with the newly upgraded video system brings the entire system to the 21st century by running through all digital equipment.
