Medford Firefighter Arrested On Charge Of Inappropriate Communication With Minor

The resident was arrested on Monday night.

MEDFORD, MA — A resident was arrested Monday night on charges related to inappropriate communication with minors, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Hugh McEleney, 63, has officially been charged with dissemination of harmful material to minors. The Medford Police learned earlier this month that McEleney, a member of the Medford Fire Department, was a focus of a child exploitation operation being conducted by the Federal Task Force. Based on the investigation’s findings, McEleney was reportedly communicating with and sending images to someone he believed to be a female under 15-years-old.

McEleney was arraigned in Somerville District Court on Tuesday. He was reportedly released after posting a $1,000 bail and has been forbidden to have any internet or social media usage, as well as unsupervised contact with minors.
