Medford Is Getting Its First Mosque

MEDFORD, MA – The city will soon have its first mosque, as the Islamic Cultural Center of Medford is opening in the former Gaffey Funeral Home space on High Street. The center bought the property in November but must make some adjustments to the space ahead of its expected opening in less than a month, the Medford Transcript reported.

According to a fundraiser for the mosque, it will offer civic education workshops for community members, a weekend Islamic school, a day senior program and prayers and spiritual programs.

It is not known whether the funeral home will relocate or permanently close. Gaffey spent over a century in the historic Isaac Hall House.

The address for the upcoming mosque is 43 High St.
