Medford Girls Take Second in Winchester Christmas Basketball Tournament
Destiny Fitzgerald was voted to the All-Tournament team.

The Medford High School Mustangs girls basketball team took second place at the Winchester Christmas Tournament at Cooper Gym.
The mustangs nabbed a 49-36 victory over Boston Latin in the opening round off the strength of 32 points from Destiny Fitzgerald, as reported by Wicked Local Medford. Sadly, Medford fell to Waltham in the finals by a score of 70-47 after a strong first half. Despite the loss, Fitzgerald was voted to the All-Tournament team.

“Trailing Waltham by just a point, 30-29 at halftime, the Mustangs fell prey to a heady Hawks squad that refused to back down. Waltham extended its lead to 47-35 at the end of the third quarter, leaving Medford looking for answers.....Fitzgerald led the Mustangs with 13 points, followed closely by Eisnor with 12. Senior co-captain Gigi Braga added some hustle netting five points and four assists. Junior Rhiannon Arnold chipped in four points and three assists. Freshman Isabella Sanchez came off the bench netting the first five points of her varsity career.”’
An earlier win over Somerville helps the Mustangs begin 2016 with a record of 2-1. They host Everett on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
