Medford To Interview Candidates For Security Director

The position, established after the McGlynn gun magazine incident, will be responsible for security at schools at city buildings.

MEDFORD, MA – The city is closing in on hiring its first Director of Security, a position that was established in the wake of the McGlynn gun magazine incident. Mayor Stephanie M. Burke told the School Committee Monday she has posted the job online and expects to interview applicants in the coming weeks, according to the Medford Transcript.

The security director will be responsible for security measures at all schools and city buildings, including maintaining security equipment like alarms and cameras, investigating and reporting security incidents and managing security guards. The salary will be between $80,126 and $93,116, the Transcript reported.

The security director will also be asked to focus on implementing security measures highlighted in a study conducted last year by non-profit Safe Havens International.
