Medford Middle Schools To Rally Around Student Battling Lymphoma

On Nov. 1, middle schoolers are invited to wear gear in support of "D-Team Strong Day" and attend a fundraiser at LoConte Rink.

MEDFORD, MA — Medford middle schoolers are invited to show their support for a McGlynn student who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. On Friday, Nov. 1, McGlynn Middle School and Andrews Middle School will hold "D-Team Strong Day" in honor of Derek Marino.

Students may wear blue and white or contribute $1 and wear a hat like Derek's. There will be a student fundraiser after school from 2:30-5 p.m. at LoConte Rink. It will be $5 to enter, and students may ice skate, eat pizza and socialize.

The money raised will support Derek and his fight. Those interested in buying a D-Team t-shirt should see social studies teacher Mr. Tiberi in Room 204 or visit www.dteam.info.
