Medford Names Head Of New Parking Department

MEDFORD, MA — Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn has selected Faye Morrison to lead the city's new Parking Department, which launches in January.

Morrison has served as the parking manager in Newton for the past five years. She will assume her role in Medford Oct. 18 and work with the implementation team ahead of the department's launch.

The city is not renewing its contract with parking vendor ParkMedford. When the contract expires in January, the city will take ownership of all parking-related resources and materials, including parking kiosks, meters, databases and related information when the contract expires.

Following the launch of an in-house Parking Department, under Morrison's direction, Medford will work to increase staffing and operations in the coming months and years.

"I am excited and honored that Mayor Lungo-Koehn has chosen and entrusted me with the task of creating a modern, citizen friendly and revenue generating parking program in Medford," Morrison said in a statement. "I look forward to working with the community and the Mayor to bring my first hand municipal experience to the city."

In Newton, Morrison was crucial in unifying parking operations from four divisions, and was responsible for managing meter audits and parking control operations, overseeing parking clerks, maintaining pavement markings and other essential operations for the city.

Morrison previously worked in the office of the Massachusetts Secretary of State, served as an administrative assistant for CISCO Systems, and was a select board member in Ayer for six years.
