Medford Names Next Superintendent

Roy Belson's successor was announced Monday night.

MEDFORD, MA – Medford has selected its next superintendent of schools. Mayor Stephanie M. Burke announced Monday evening that the Medford School Committee voted to name Dr. Marice Edouard-Vincent superintendent. The vote was unanimous.

Edouard-Vincent, a Medford native, currently serves as a network superintendent for the Boston Public Schools and has been a part of the school system for 24 years.

Twenty-three candidates applied for the Medford superintendent job, and eight were interviewed. From there, school officials narrowed it down to four applicants to send to the school committee for public interviews.

Edouard-Vincent and Thomas Martellone, a Medford resident and elementary school principal in Lexington, were finalists for the position.

Edouard-Vincent and the Medford School Committee will next meet to negotiate a contract. She will succeed Roy Belson, who is retiring after 23 years.
