Medford Opening Applications For Senior Work-Off Real Estate Tax Abate
Through this program, seniors have the opportunity to lower their real estate tax payments by temporarily working for the city.

MEDFORD, MA —The City of Medford Council on Aging and Office of the Assessor is inviting seniors, ages 60 and over, to apply for the Senior Work-Off Abatement Program.
Through this program, seniors have the opportunity to lower their real estate tax payments by temporarily working for the city. Preference will be given to seniors that have not participated in previous years.
The work program will begin on Sept. 5, 2023 and must be completed on or before Feb. 23, 2024.

According to city officials, approximately 20 spots are available for the program and certain positions will require specific skill sets. Only one applicant will be selected per household and applicants must be owner-occupants.
The Council on Aging and Assessor’s Office will hold a public meeting on Thursday, July 27 at 1 p.m. at the Senior Center to share information and answer questions.

All applications must be completed and returned to the Medford Senior Center by Aug. 11 at noon.
