Medford Police Union President Apologizes For Hillary Clinton Prison Garb Photo: Report

In an email to the Boston Globe, Harold MacGilvray said he used "poor judgment" when posing for the photo Saturday.

MEDFORD, MA – The president of a Medford police union apologized over the weekend after posing for a photo with a person dressed as Hillary Clinton in prison attire.

Harold MacGilvray, who helms the Medford Police Patrolmen’s Association, said in an email to the Boston Globe that he used "poor judgment" when taking the photo and it was not intended to be a political statement.

"These were Halloween costumes. It was meant totally as a joke," MacGilvray wrote to the Globe. "I apologize if this offended anyone in any way. I never expected this sort of reaction. It was poor judgment on my part."

The photo, along with others of MacGilvray and officers posing with a person wearing a Donald Trump mask under the caption "Making America great again in West Medford Square," generated much controversy after they were posted to the Medford Police Patrolman’s Association’s Facebook page, according to the Globe.

Many took umbrage at police officers seemingly making a political statement while in uniform, which the State Ethics Commission advises against, Fox25 reported.
