Medford resident co-chairs Joslin Diabetes Center fundraiser

Luis "El Tiante" Tiant was the special guest at Joslin's annual ritmos de salud event.

Medford resident Javier Bellini served as event co-chair once again for Joslin Diabetes Center’s fourth annual ritmos de salud benefit at the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter in South Boston. Javier, whose father has type 2 diabetes, has been involved withritmos de salud for three years, first having served on the event committee and then as event co-chair for the last two years alongsideLazaro Lopez. Over 150 guests and supporters, including special guest Luis “El Tiante” Tiant, attended this year’s event, raising over $135,000 for Joslin Diabetes Center’s Latino Diabetes Initiative (LDI), which strives to improve the lives of Latinos affected by diabetes, or at risk for the disease, through culturally oriented patient care, education, outreach and research, as well as working to find a cure.
