On Sunday, May 20th, Amy Stone of Medford will support returning Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families by participating in the 3rd annual Run-Walk to Home Base Presented by New Balance.

The event raises funds for the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, which provides clinical care to military service members, veterans and families who are affected by the “invisible wounds of war” – Post Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

Stone is running for the second year in a row, in honor of her cousin, Jonathan Ota, a marine. Stone chose to return this year so that she could show her support for the Home Base Program, which she says is a “great program because it reaches out to military locally,  and is easily accessible, which is important.”

The Run-Walk to Home Base Presented by New Balance starts and ends in historic Fenway Park with all runners crossing home plate at the finish line.  Approximately 3,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate, including 500 active duty military participants.
