Medford Seeking Residents For Boards, Commissions
There are openings for residents on a dozen local committees and boards.
MEDFORD, MA — The city is seeking residents to serve on several boards, commissions and committees. There are vacancies on the Board of Registrars of Voters, Board of Assessors, Cable Television Advisory Committee, Disabilities Commission, Community Development Board, Conservation Commission, Consumer Advisory Board, Veterans Advisory Committee, Traffic Commission, Medford Housing Authority, Historic District Commission and the Board of Health.
More vacancies are anticipated this year. There are also volunteer opportunities available at the Walnut St. Food Pantry at the corner of Walnut Street and Mystic Avenue. Residents interested in volunteering should contact Lindsay Smythe from the Malden YMCA at lsmythe@ymcamalden.org.
"Serving on a board, commission or volunteering is an excellent way to engage with our neighbors in ways that are important to each of us," Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn said in a statement. "We are looking for dedicated residents to help us take on the challenges that our city is facing."

Lungo-Koehn is also actively considering the creation of several groups and task forces to address specific challenges including parking, housing and Chapter 40B issues, payment in lieu of tax (PILOT) agreements, tourism, senior tax relief, an evaluation of Medford Fire Department facilities and reuse and a "Welcoming Committee" to provide support for new residents and businesses.

Residents who are interested in any of these existing or new groups should complete the Board and Commission Interest Form available at http://www.medfordma.org/boards/. Forms should be submitted via email to boardsandcommissions@medford-ma.gov. Forms may also be submitted to the Personnel Department at City Hall.
