Medford Tobacco Restrictions In Effect Monday

Several changes to the city's tobacco laws are taking effect.

Some recently voted upon changes in Medford tobacco regulations are taking effect Monday, July 10. The Board of Health voted to implement the following changes:

Flavored tobacco products can only be sold in "adult only" stores where anyone entering has to be 21 or older.

The minimum price for a cigar is $2.50 and two or more cigar packages are a minimum of $5.

No new stores that sell tobacco can be within 500 feet of a school.

A cap on the number of tobacco permits in the city.

Smoking is prohibited in private clubs/membership associations.

The following is postponed until Jan. 10, 2018:

No smoking within 25 feet of the entrance of municipal buildings.
