The new system is an all-digital conference system with 8 table microphones for those behind the rail, a microphone for those speaking at the podium, and 2 handheld microphones for presentations. Additional speakers were installed, and existing speakers were incorporated into the new system to provide the best sound quality possible. By using the existing speakers, the City saved money on parts as well as labor.
“The new technology will make a remarkable difference for all who engage in meetings inside the Chambers. The clarity of the audio will allow those viewing at home the ability to hear and understand clearly what transpires at meetings,” said Mayor Stephanie M. Burke.

The new system has replaced the old rusting metal control unit with a wireless iPad as it’s controller. This combined with the newly upgraded video system brings the entire system to the 21st century by running through all digital equipment.
