Medford Woman Accused of Stabbing Spouse

Laura Maloney was arraigned on assault and battery charges on Monday.

A 49-year-old Medford woman appears to have stabbed her spouse over the weekend, although authorities emphasize that the facts may not all be in yet.

“This is an active and ongoing investigation,” District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement. “We are continuing to assess the circumstances surrounding this stabbing, speaking with potential witnesses, and gathering evidence.”

Nonetheless, Laura Maloney, of 59 Rockwell Ave., was arraigned on Monday, March 9, on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault to murder.

According to the authorities, a man who lived with Maloney arrived at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett with a knife wound in his belly sometime in the vicinity of 4:50 a.m. Sunday. Later that morning, police went to the residence the victim shared with Maloney. She admitted that she and the victim had argued recently, and police found a knife.
