Medford Woman Charged With Breaking Into Somerville Restaurant

The woman claimed she was an employee when police responded to alarms going off at the restaurant.

MEDFORD, MA – A Medford woman was arrested last week and charged with breaking into a Somerville restaurant, according to police. Officers responded to a Foley Street eatery around 3:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3 after multiple motion alarms were set off, according to the police report.

Police found 38-year-old Amy McGregor in the restaurant, and she told them she worked there and was using the bathroom since the door was unlocked. She then claimed she was looking for a computer to look up a flight itinerary, police said.

Officers contacted the owner of the restaurant, who said he had never heard McGregor's name before, the report stated. She then told the officers she wanted to get a job there and went inside to use the bathroom. She said the lights were on inside, but the main lights were off and only some ambient lights were on, according to the police report.
