Medford's First 2017 City Council Meeting Tuesday
Watch the first council meeting of the year, in which lowering the default speed limit was discussed.
The year's first Medford City Council meeting took place Tuesday night at the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium.
Councillors Rick Carviello and Michael Marks were officially introduced as Council President and Council Vice President, respectively.
Among the discussion Tuesday was talk unanimously endorsing moving Medford's default speed limit from 30 miles per hour to 25 mph, something cities and towns are now allowed to do. Marks said this motion - though a council vote would pass it - should be reviewed by the traffic commission before its passing. Then proper notification will be sent to residents.
