Medford's Newest Almost-Millionaire

Those taxes really take a bite out of the winnings.

MEDFORD, MA — Medford's got a new millionaire (well, before taxes.) Linda Callahan is only the second $1 million winner in the Mass. State Lottery's new '100x' instant game that launched in June.

Callahan opted for the one-time cash option and received $650,000. Not too bad. (Subscribe to Medford Patch for more local news and alerts.)

The ticket was purchased at Harvard Market, 229 Highland Ave. in Malden. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for its sale.
