New Reporting System For Medford PTO, PTGs To Start In Fall
Changes were proposed after spending by the McGlynn Elementary PTG fell under scrutiny.

MEDFORD, MA – The Medford School Committee this week approved new oversight regulations for parent-teacher groups and parent-teacher organizations, effective this fall, according to the Medford Transcript. Such organizations must register yearly with the superintendent's office in a Google form by Oct. 1. The form will include information like the organization's structure and purpose, its finances and elected officials and bylaws associated with it, the Transcript reported.
Treasurers of these organizations may also undergo financial and legal training in their first year, though it will not be required.
Changes to the oversight rules were proposed after questions arose over spending and structure among the McGlynn Elementary Parent-Teacher Group. Superintendent Roy Belson found no malfeasance in his review of the group's finances but did recommend changes to the oversight rules.
