Obituary: Catherine Koenig

Catherine F. Koenig, 86, of Medford, died Wednesday after a long illness in the Pine Knoll Nursing Home, Lexington.

Born in Ireland, she resided in Medford since 1948 and was the daughter of the late Ellen (O'Brien) and John Clancy.

Catherine was a senior aide at the former Hallmark Health Care Center in Malden until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of the St. Joseph Church Sodality, the Mother’s Club and was also a Eucharistic Minister.

Beloved wife of the late John P. Koenig. Devoted mother of Ellen Martin and her husband Thomas of Tewksbury and Brenda Rizzo and her husband Edward of Saugus. Loving grandmother of Patrick Martin and his wife Jessica of Dracut, Kimberly Martin of Haverhill, Edward Rizzo and his wife Sabrina of New York and Derek Rizzo of Peabody. Loving great grandmother of Audrey Martin and Edward Rizzo III. Sister of George Clancy of Ireland and the late Malachy Clancy.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit the family 8:30-10 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
