Obituary: Charles O'Connor Jr., 59, Longtime Medford Resident
O'Connor died Monday, Jan. 12.

Charles F. O’Connor Jr., 59, of Bridgewater, formerly of Pelham, New Hampshire, and a longtime Medford resident, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston following a lengthy illness.
He was the cherished son of Charles F. and Elizabeth (Lane) O’Connor of Bridgewater.

Chuck, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was raised and educated in Medford and was a graduate of Medford High School. He worked for several years as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service, and in more recent years, he worked as a truck driver and also in management with the Middlesex Paving Company. Chuck was an avid NASCAR fan and was also a big fan of all the Boston teams.
In addition to his parents, Chuck is survived by his loving children Michele Straitiff of Pepperell, Shannon O’Connor and Charles “C.J.” O’Connor, both of Bridgewater. He was the loving grandfather of Shaunessy and Scarlett Straitiff. Devoted brother of Paul and his wife MaryJo of Bellingham, Richard and his wife Kim of Mashpee, Peter and his wife Susan of Peabody, Christine Joy and her husband Peter of Bridgewater, David and his wife Sharon of Bridgewater, Brian and his wife Sheri of Wilmington and Thomas and his wife Carri of Avon. Chuck was the beloved fiancé of the late Diane Ninteau and stepfather of the late Patrick Ryan. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Friday, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday, 4-8 p.m. Interment services will be private.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Chuck’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
