Josephine (Sperrazza) Fagan, of Medford, passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family on Friday morning at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was 85. Born and raised in Boston’s South End, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Maurici) Sperrazza.
As a young woman, Josephine worked at Colonial Foods. Once married, she focused on raising her children and later returned to work as a cashier at Medford High and later as a seamstress at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. A lovely and generous woman of great faith who loved to help others, Josephine volunteered as a lunch mother in her retirement. In Enfield, New Hampshire, she volunteered at the LaSalette Shrine for 10 years. A dear friend of many in her Medford neighborhood of 60 years, she will be missed by all who knew her.

The beloved wife of Joseph Fagan, she was a devoted mother to Vincent Fagan and his wife Cate of Medford, Melody Johnson and her husband Edward of New London, New Hampshire, and Mary Burnieika and her husband Timothy of Cohasset. She was a loving grandmother to Catherine, Jay and Julia.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Monday, Nov. 10, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Sunday 4-8 p.m. Services will conclude with Entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Josephine’s name to Fr. Joseph Baggetta, 135 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02111.
