Peter S. Manzelli died peacefully at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Saturday evening in the company of his loving family. He was 80.
Peter was born and raised in the North End, the son of the late Felice and Lina (Sciarappa) Manzelli. A graduate of Charlestown High and of the Vocational School, he was proud to be the first Italian-American class president. He completed a Dale Carnegie course and embarked on a career as a master electrician owning his own firm, Manzelli Electric. A Medford resident since 1962, Peter served as the Inspector of Wires for the City of Medford for over 20 years. He was a member of Medford’s Circle Club and of the Knights of Columbus.

The beloved husband of Jeannette (Ranauro) Manzelli, he was a devoted father to Karen Cartolano and her husband Joey of Andover, Peter Manzelli II and his wife Michele of Chelmsford. He leaves his loving grandchildren Joseph M. Cartolano, Peter Manzelli III and Gianna Manzelli. He leaves his pet dog Sassy. He was a dear brother to Mary Ferrara, Anna Tulipano, Felice Manzelli Jr. the late Concetta Link, Alfred Manzelli, Evelyn Gregorio, Armando “Willie” Manzelli, and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, May 2, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, Malden. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home on Thursday 3-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in to the Peter S. Manzelli Fund at the Bear Hill Rehab and Nursing Center, 11 North St., Stoneham, MA 02180.
