Obituary: Richard Robinson, Longtime Medford Resident

Robinson died Friday, Jan. 16. He was 77.

Richard A. Robinson, beloved husband of Mary (Buttigieg) Robinson, and a resident of Medford for the past 35 years, passed away at Winchester Hospital on Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at the age of 77.

He was born in Weymouth on May 4, 1937, to the late Edwin and Rose (DiLorenzo) Robinson. After graduating from Weymouth High School, he went to Harvard University where he received a B.A. in English from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School. He was a self-employed attorney.

Richard and his wife enjoyed the outdoors, and they spent more than 20 summers in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, as well as winters in Florida. At home, they liked going to Harvard sponsored functions. They also enjoyed the performing arts by attending performances and concerts in Medford and Boston.

An avid reader, Richard enjoyed walking to the Medford Public Library where he was a regular visitor and an enthusiastic supporter of the library. He was a Friend and former member of the Friends of Medford Public Library. He was also actively involved as a member, an advocate, and/or a contributor to many causes, clubs and organizations. He was a member of The Harvard Art Museum, The Royal House, The Medford Republican City Committee and a supporter of The Heritage Foundation, The Pioneer Institute and Hillsdale College.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife Mary, whom he married 36 years ago; his brother Dennis Robinson and his wife Rosemarie of Greenfield, Wisconsin; his sister Judith Robinson of Weymouth; and his nephews Daniel Robinson, Christopher Robinson, Nickolas Robinson, Norman Nelson and Sean Malloney. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Richard requested that his body be donated to the Harvard Medical School – Anatomical Gift Program.

A memorial service will be celebrated on Saturday morning, Jan. 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Ave., Medford. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend.
