Russell Watson died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, Dec. 14. He was 72.
A resident of Somerville and Medford throughout his life, Russell served in the Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked as a bar manager throughout his life and was a lifelong member of the Sons of Italy in Medford. A great athlete in his younger years, Russell remained a sports enthusiast all his life.
The beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Carpenito), he was a devoted father to Shawn Watson and his wife Carrie of Medford, Christopher Watson of Medford, Robin Watson of Leominster and Melissa Swanson and her husband Daniel of Bedford. He was a dear father-in-law of Angela Watson and the beloved son of Helen (Gullage) and the late John Watson. Russell also leaves his loving grandchildren: Haley, Ross, Raquel, Christopher Jr., Shane, Andrew and Jesse.
A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park.
