Paul V. Bailey, Medford Native, Tractor Trailer Mechanic, Dies at 61

Bailey died Friday, Oct. 18.

Paul V. Bailey, 61, passed away on Oct. 18, 2013 after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Medford on Feb. 12, 1952, to his parents John J. and Marjorie (Lowthers) Bailey. Paul was raised and educated in Medford. He is a graduate of St. Francis of Assisi Parish Grammar School and Medford Vocational High School, Class of 1970.

For over 40 years, Paul worked as a Tractor Trailer Mechanic, most recently working for Crystal Motor Express. He had previously worked for First National Trucking, G.E. Motors and was self employed, owning and operating Allied Mobil Trailer Repair.

Paul is a member and former Fleet Captain of the Peninsula Yacht Club. He was a avid hockey player and fan who enjoyed playing for Medford Youth Hockey and Medford High School in his younger days. He also enjoyed woodworking and building in his spare time.

Paul is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Leverone) Bailey; by his father, John J. Bailey of Medford; by his siblings; John J. Bailey Jr. and his wife Janice of Medford, Brian Bailey and his wife Roberta of Medford, Peter Bailey and his wife Sheila of Marshfield and Kathy Scire and her husband Steve of Medford; by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Judy and Hal Hanlon of Chatham, Frank and Susan Leverone of Arlington and Joan and Steven Jennings of Andover. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Paul was predeceased by his mother, Marjorie (Lowthers) Bailey and by his sister, Charlene Bailey.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 21, from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 9 Erie Drive, Natick, MA 01760.
