Preliminary Will Narrow 16-Candidate City Council Field

Medford voters will go to the polls in September to eliminate 2 candidates from the Nov. 3 general election ballot.

Before the Nov. 3 general election this year, Medford voters will narrow down the field of CIty Council candidates in a Sept. 1 preliminary, according to a Wicked Local report.

Sixteen council candidates officially filed their nomination papers with the city by Tuesday’s deadline, the report stated. A City Council preliminary election is triggered when the ballot reaches 15 candidates.

The candidates running for the seven council seats up for election include:

  • Christopher D’Aveta
  • Leonore Eforo
  • John Falco Jr.
  • Adam Knight
  • Breanna Lungo-Koehn
  • Michael Marks
  • Mario Martin
  • Neal McSweeney
  • William O’Keefe Jr.
  • Neil Osborne
  • Michael Ruggiero
  • Frederick Dello Russo
  • George Scarpelli

Voters will eliminate two candidates during the September preliminary and have until July 30 to drop out of the election.
