How did you get your start as Athletic Director?

This is my fourth year as AD at medford high. I was a PE teacher previously for 13 years. With the support of Principal Dr. Krueger and Superintendant Roy Belson, I was able to hire a lot of new coaches that understood the importance of working with the youth programs and parents to build a strong feederprogram and keep our Medford students in Medford.
What are you most proud of in your four years as AD?
Improved student athletic numbers, facilities and coaches are all things that I am proud of. I love my profession and will never call it a job because I am home grown in Medford my whole life, so to be able to oversee the athletic department is a dream profession to ensure our student athletes have quality coaches and facilities. Nothing like Mustang Pride!
How do you think high school athletes have changed over the years?
Athletes haven't changed much. More athletes seem to be specializing in one sport and a lot of athletes need to work to assist their families.
What was your reaction when you learned of your induction into the Mustang Hall of Fame?
The Hall of Fame was a real surprise and a true honor. Anytime you get recognized with the like of the Saragosas, Bates, Rileys, Saccos, and Edgerlys it's a true, overwhelming honor.
What do you like most about your job?
Connection and relationships with the student athletes is the best part of my occupation. Seeing an eighth grader come in and grow into a young adult is incredible.I always wanted to work with kids so I have been lucky, teaching, coaching and now an AD. GO MUSTANGS!
