Rep. Clark Tours Medford Schools to Highlight ARP School Funding

American Rescue Plan is providing our schools with the resources necessary to safely reopen

(Jonathon House)

Medford, MA – Today, Assistant Speaker Katherine Clark (MA-05) toured the McGlynn Elementary School with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marice Edouard-Vincent and Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn to highlight the education funding provided by the American Rescue Plan.

“Today, I had the pleasure of touring the McGlynn school and seeing our students learning, together, in classrooms. It was a great sign of how far we’ve come thanks to the incredible dedication of our local leaders and teachers, and the investments of the American Rescue Plan,” said Assistant Speaker Clark. “This transformational law has brought over $3 billion to Massachusetts Public Schools and over $5 million directly to Medford schools – it’s helping to test, teach and feed our children and provide them mental and physical health supports. I’m so proud to say that help is here.”

During the pandemic, Assistant Speaker Clark has been an advocate for staff and student safety, fighting for equipment, COVID-19 testing, technology, and other necessary resources to reopen our school buildings safely. During the tour at the McGlynn Elementary School, Assistant Speaker Clark visited a first grade classroom and witnessed students getting COVID-19 tested. The tour showed the positive impact of American Rescue Plan funding on Medford schools and schools district across the Commonwealth as they reopen their classroom doors.
