Run Medford Seeking Volunteers For Annual Race Weekend

MEDFORD, MA — The city is looking for community volunteers to help support the annual Run Medford race weekend later this month, according to the office of Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn.

Volunteers are needed on Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26, in several roles throughout the two-day event. The city said volunteers will help support young runners, distribute race materials and refreshments, and assist participants along the course.

Volunteers are needed for the following positions on Friday, Sept. 25:

• Kids and Celebrity Mile Races — 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Hormel Stadium
• Registration — 2:45 to 5 p.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Hormel Stadium
• T-Shirt Distribution — 2:45 to 5 p.m. and 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Hormel Stadium
• Medal Distribution — 5 to 7 p.m. at Hormel Stadium

Volunteers are needed for the following positions on Saturday, Sept. 26:

• Registration — 5:45 to 8 a.m. at the tent in the City Hall parking lot
• T-Shirt Distribution — 5:45 to 8 a.m. at the tent in the City Hall parking lot
• Food Distribution — 7:30 to 10 a.m. at City Hall
• Medal Distribution — 7:45 to 10 a.m. at City Hall
• Pre/Post Race Water — 7 to 10 a.m. at City Hall
• Course Marshal — 7:30 to 10 a.m. at selected street locations

City officials said volunteers play a crucial role in making Run Medford a safe community event, with opportunities available for residents who can contribute only a few hours. Community members can assist at City Hall, along the race route, or at Friday night's events at Hormel Stadium.

Run Medford is hosted by the City of Medford and the Dave McGillivray Finish Strong Foundation. The fifth annual event will take place Friday and Saturday, with the main 5K and 10K races scheduled for Saturday morning. The weekend will begin with youth races at the Dave McGillivray Track at Hormel Stadium before events move to Medford City Hall on Saturday.

Saturday's events will include the Celebrity Mile and Para Mile at 7:45 a.m., followed by the High School Mile at 8 a.m. Jerry's Run for All Ages 5K and the 10K will begin at 8:15 a.m. Both races will start and finish at Medford City Hall, with the 10K being offered for the first time this year.
