Something is brewing and it's time to pay attention. We have been complaining all winter about the cold, but we really haven't had that one huge snowstorm...YET!
Well, here is what is happening. Some meteorologists are what is called Model Huggers. They go nuts and keep changing forecasts depending on how the Models change. Well, this time, it might behoove us to hug a Model lol. Why? Because they are all saying the same thing...something is brewing. The differences in the Models aren't in the "if", but rather in the "where." What track will this storm take? Out to sea to entertain the fish? So close that we get rain? Or the track over the dreaded "benchmark?"
So why am I talking about this 5 days before the projected event? It is because some of the Models are showing a historic storm. One Model shows the lowest barometric pressure equal to a category 3 hurricane. That is serious business. Another shows that even if we are hit by the fringes of it, substantial snow will fall.

How can this happen so late in the season. Blame it on the "polar vortex," that brutal cold air that has overstayed it's welcome for quite a bit. As the next intrusion of the vortex makes it's appearance on Monday, it will eventually come in contact with the much warmer air in the southern part of the country (warmed by the late March sun) and create a storm that will explode off the coast and move towards us. Furthermore, to add insult to injury, there is some evidence that the atmosphere is slowing down. That is not a good formula for getting rid of this potential event quickly.
So, this is just an advanced warning to pay attention to weather updates over the weekend. It isn't a forecast yet...too early for that. Could it be sunny and warmer on Wednesday?...sure...but don't bet on it because.....something is brewing.
