Tom Downing Sworn-in to Teamsters Local 25 Retiree Chapter
New executive board members sworn-in to begin work to benefit members and community in 2019

January 25, 2019– Teamsters Local 25 Retiree Chapter held a swearing-in ceremony for its new executive board members at the Malden Irish American Club. Teamsters Local 25 Retiree Chapter was chartered in 1984 as a vehicle for members to get together to exchange ideas, keep updated on information pertaining to retirees, and provide helpful guidance to the rank and file. Today, the Local 25 Retiree Chapter is active year-round, working tirelessly to support initiatives that benefit members and the community, including the Local 25 Toy Drive, scholarship fund, autism fund, monthly blood bank, and many more.
More than 150 retired union members were in attendance as the new executive board took the oath during the Local 25 Retiree Breakfast. Local 25 Retiree Chapter Trustee Tom Downing of Medford was among the board members sworn-in to a new term. Downing, who worked at Roadway Express, has been a proud Teamster for 47 years and has served as a retiree officer for 3 years. The Teamsters Local 25 Retiree Chapter leads many initiatives and programs that benefit members and their families, as well as the community at large, including the successful Local 25 annual Holiday Toy Drive and Scholarship Awards Program.

- Bill Grubbs: Vice President, Teamster for 55 years, worked at Atlas Personnel, Raytheon
- Chuck Durfee: Secretary Treasurer, Teamster for 50 years, worked at St. Johnsbury’s
- Tommy Nasson: Recording Secretary, Teamster for 47 years, worked at Global Oil
- Kevin Lally: Trustee, Teamster for 49 years, worked at Shaughnessy & Ahearn
- Herb Andrews, Sr.: Trustee, Teamster for 49 years, worked at Arrow Paper
- Tom Downing: Trustee, Teamster for 47 years, worked at Roadway Express
“As we look to the future, it’s important that we not forget our members who paved the way and helped build this strong union,” said Teamsters Local 25 President Sean M. O’Brien. “Our retirees are an inspiration to our younger members, working hard to help make our union and our community a better place for all. We are extremely proud of the contributions these men and women make every day.”
