Nearly 3K Still Without Power In Medford Thursday Night

Priority is being given to public safety issues such as downed wires.

MEDFORD, MA — Fifteen percent of residents should expect to have their power turned on Friday, according to police. Authorities said 600 homes in South and West Medford should have power restored by Thursday night.

As of 10:30 p.m., 2,930 customers remained without power in Medford. The priority Thursday was to address public safety issues, including downed wires and arching sidewalks, Mayor Stephanie M. Burke's office said.

National Grid classified the storm as a Level 3 event, city officials said. That means it could take up to 72 hours to respond to all customers. To report an outage call 800-322-3223 or 800-465-1212. National Grid suggests that all power outages are reported.

The Medford Fire Station at 0 Medford St will be available as a charging station for residents until power is restored.
