TV3: The Nuclear Option

Joe’s decade long fight wasn’t with TV3.  It was with the governing body of Medford Community Cablevision Inc. There is a subtle yet distinct difference. Yet, Joe didn’t differentiate.

Let’s look at what’s left of TV3 after Joe’s triumph:

Governing body (Board of Directors): No

Station Manager:  No

Staff: No

Volunteers:  No

Facilities:  No

Equipment:  ???

Programming:  No

Contract with the City:  No

Public Enthusiasm to create a new station:  No

Committed Advisory Board:  No

Plan to move forward:  No

Positive Outlook:  No

More money in the General Fund:  Yes

Joe didn’t just take down MCC, he nuked TV3.  There is little, if anything, to salvage.  More than Joe wants a new station, he wants and cries out for revenge (“ …. the citizens will get their pound of flesh.”). Joe certainly isn’t a coalition builder. 

Since Joe fancies himself an entertainment critic, I’ll end with a quote from Charlton Heston’s character in the final scene of Planet of the Apes.  “You maniacs! You blew it up! Damn you! God damn you all to hell!!”
