Valentine's Day Cocktail Specials Near Medford

This Saturday, some of us plan to twiddle Valentine’s Day away pampering our respective S.O.s. Others have booked an evening of sobbing into a vat of Ben & Jerry’s and wondering why love always seems to go awry. Then there are the single-but-secure among us who - content to be their own valentines - may opt for a solo night on the town.

But regardless of our relationship statuses, we will all need booze - preferably of the fancy sort. Fortuitously, a handful of Somerville establishments are offering Valentine’s weekend-only cocktail deals. These adult beverages, all on sale from Friday, Feb. 13 to Sunday, Feb. 15, are intended to serve two, but nobody’s saying one person can’t order them if it is their wont to do so.

Yes, we’re all sick and tired of things that remind us of tropical climates here in Massachusetts during February of 2015. But Foundry’s so-called “tiki for two” sounds much more intriguing than yet another monotonous, scorching, humid afternoon at the beach. Cocktail connoisseurs may encounter drinks comprised of 15 ingredients all the time, but for the many tourists visiting the realm of high-end imbibing this weekend, Foundry on Elm’s offering what sounds like a horizon-broadening treat.

Perfect for those who really wish it was two months ago and they were celebrating a completely different holiday. As for River Bar itself, it makes an apt date-location for couples with a mutual affinity for “Doctor Who.” Amid its diverse and reasonably-priced regular cocktail menu, a cocchi rosa and gin concoction has been dubbed a “Rose Tyler,” more than probably after Billie Piper’s iconic character.

This deliberately anachronistic Davis Square tavern describes itself as hearkening back to the days of “serious and uncomplicated” drinking. Hence, it provides an uncomplicated but clearly seriously Valentine’s Day special, and perhaps the least advisable of these three to consume solo. Nothing served in a flask is meant to be trifled with, after all.
