WATCH: Bystanders Pull Medford Woman From Car at Spy Pond
The dramatic rescue of a woman from the chilly Arlington waters Friday was captured on video by a nearby witness.
MEDFORD, MA — A Medford woman was pulled from her car by nearby good Samaritans as it sank into the waters of Spy Pond in Arlington Friday afternoon.
Police said around 1 p.m., the 68-year-old woman was reportedly trying to back into a parking lot on Linwood Circle and drove over a curb and into the pond. Three bystanders immediately jumped into the water to save her.
According to police, the woman was cold but otherwise unhurt.

A video captured at the scene shows a man swimming out to save the woman. He attempts to free her while the vehicle sinks into the pond.
Shortly after, he's joined by a second man, who assisted in the rescue before police and firefighters arrived on the scene. As the car becomes completely submerged, a man can be heard yelling, "I lost her!"

Moments later, the woman surfaced and was helped to safety.
The Cambridge Dive Team is responding to ensure the vehicle is unoccupied, and police are still on hand removing the vehicle from the pond.
