WATCH: John Buckley Sworn In As Medford Police Chief
The 20-year veteran of the Medford Police Department was sworn in Wednesday at City Hall.

MEDFORD, MA – The city swore in its next police chief, John D. Buckley, at City Hall Wednesday. Buckley was selected to succeed Leo Sacco, who retired this year after nearly 30 years at the helm of the department.
Buckley joined the department as a patrol officer in 1998, eventually rising to the rank of detective lieutenant. His goals for the department include establishing a new mission statement, appointing a Hate Crime Officer and augmenting diversity within the department by developing a formal recruiting effort to teach potential candidates the Civil Service process.
