3 Injured After Massive Tree Falls On Melrose Elementary School Playground
The tree fell on the playground structure next to the building.

MELROSE, MA — Three people were transported to the hospital in the aftermath of a large tree falling on the property of Winthrop Elementary School Monday afternoon.
The police department and detectives from the Middlesex District Attorney's Office responded to the scene at 162 First St. shortly after 3 p.m. and secured the scene with police tape. Multiple helicopters also circled the area. The Melrose Fire Department told Patch that two children and one adult were injured. Their identities and the hospital they were taken to have not been revealed. School leadership alerted parents of the situation quickly after it happened.
