Qualifying residents can now apply for the new scholarship.

MELROSE, MA — City Hall announced Tuesday that the application window is now open for the inaugural year of the Melrose City Scholarship Fund. The fund is geared toward recent or soon-to-be graduates of either Melrose High School or the Northeast Regional Vocational Technical School in Wakefield. In addition, residents who have notable involvement and contributions to the public school district are also eligible.

“We recognize financial need, commitment to education, and connection to the Melrose community,” scholarship leadership said in a statement.

Other qualifications include being a current resident of Melrose and being enrolled in or accepted to either a four-year, two-year, or vocational collegiate program.

Interested parties can apply online now. Application requirements include a resume, a one-page personal statement, one letter of recommendation, and a transcript of the person’s academic history.
