Melrose Man Charged With Host Of Crimes Related To Violent Break-In, Assault

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose man who was wanted for what police said was a brutal domestic attack on two women in a local home has been indicted on a host of related crimes by a grand jury, according to the Middlesex DA's Office.

John Ferreira, 54, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury (2 counts), assault and battery on a person over the age of 60, armed assault with intent to murder, armed kidnapping causing serious bodily injury (2 counts), armed burglary, home invasion, and armed assault in a dwelling.

Police said Ferreira broke into a Vinton Street home and attacked two woman in August in what was said to be an incident involving family members. He wasarrested in Westborough days later after being spotted in what was believed to be a vehicle he stole from one of the victims.
