Melrose Recycling Committee releases video promoting increased recycling.
Announcing new recycling video shot in Melrose that answers the seven most common reasons people choose not to recycle.

Melrose, MA—The Melrose Recycling Committee (MRC) announces the release of a new video, “I Don’t Recycle, and I’m Proud of It,” that aims to make the economic and environmental case for recycling. The 15-minute video has been posted on YouTube, and MRC is working to establish a viewing schedule for the video on MMTV.
Shot entirely in Melrose, “I Don’t Recycle” features a friendly confrontation between two fictional neighbors—Irene M. Green (IM Green, played by MRC’s own Jeana O’Neil) and Ken R. Mudgeon (KR Mudgeon, played by Phil Bingham). Irene recycles; Ken doesn’t, and feels good about it. Meeting at the curb one morning, Irene urges Ken to recycle more, and when Ken resists, Irene invites him over later to give her an opportunity to make her case. Ken agrees.
In Irene’s home that evening, Irene and Ken go back and forth on the economics of recycling, and Irene adds some environmental data of her own. The discussion moves to another area of the house, where Irene shows Ken that recycling doesn’t have to be as difficult or as complicated as he believes. Irene’s daughter Jessie (played by Piper Nichols) enters the scene and shares what she has learned about recycling in school, and some pointers to make recycling easier.
