Melrose Residents Arrested for Battery Snatching

Two Melrose men were arrested for stealing 16 batteries from traffic signs on Sunday, according to Massachusetts State Police. The parties involved have been charged with larceny, destruction of property, and a handful of other offenses.

A Facebook update from the department says they were tipped off by an individual calling in via cell phone, who was watching the two men swipe batteries as they drove around I-95 in Wakefield at about 2 p.m. Upon pulling the vehicle over, police found the batteries in the back of their truck, a 2002 Ford F150.
