Malden Woman Accused of Drunk Driving, Assaulting an Officer

At 1:09 a.m. Feb. 16, Melrose Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Swains Pond Avenue. Gloria Moreschi, 43, of 123 Essex St. Apt. #1, Malden, was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of intoxicating liquor, second offense, assault and battery on a police officer, failing to stop for police and a marked lines violation. A report was taken.

Melrose Man Allegedly Broke Into a Home

At 2:31 p.m. Feb. 15, police responded to Mount Vernon Street for a report of a recent breaking and entering into a home. Samuel Lewis, 21, of 3 Mount Vernon St. Apt. #3, Melrose, was arrested and charged with a felony count of breaking and entering into a building during the daytime and one count of wanton destruction of property over $250.

Feb. 11

6:06 a.m.: Police responded to Youle Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. The caller reported that a car crashed into a snowbank, according to police. The car was towed from the scene, according to police. 

9:49 a.m.: A Stratford Road resident visited the police station to report that their Eastern Bank card was stolen and used to make fraudulent purchases at an Apple Store and a Home Depot store. A report was taken.

5:06 p.m.: Police responded to Green Street for a report of harassment. The caller reported that it was an issue with their neighbors, according to police. A report was taken.

Feb. 12

8:15 a.m.: Police received a complaint about icy conditions across from the Roosevelt Elementary School. DPW was notified, according to police. 

9:34 a.m.: Police received a complaint about a past threat related to a motor vehicle incident in the Cedar Park parking lot. A report was taken.

12:44 p.m.: Police responded to Melrose High School for a report of vandalism inside the school. The SRO was expected to file a report, according to police.

12:46 p.m.: Police called to the area of Myrtle and West Foster Streets for a report of a stop sign down. The broken stop sign pole was stuck in a snowbank, and DPW was expected to install a temporary sign, according to police. 

1:25 p.m.: Police responded to the area of Green Street and Lynn Fells Parkway following several reports of a motor vehicle accident. State Police handled the scene, according to police. One vehicle was towed after reportedly hitting a Verizon pole, according to police. Verizon was notified and responded to inspect the pole, according to police.

5:43 p.m.: Police called to the area of West Wyoming Avenue and Trenton Street for several reports of a motor vehicle accident. A report was taken.

6:28 p.m.: Police responded to Florence Street for a report of threats. A report was taken.

9:40 p.m.: Police called to a Mount Vernon Street apartment for a report of a past breaking and entering. A report was taken.

Feb. 13

12:58 a.m.: A female visited the police substation at City Hall to file a complaint about her boyfriend allegedly not returning her wristlet. A report was taken.

7:58 a.m.: Police called to the area of Lynn Fells Parkway and West Emerson Street for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Fire Department and State Police notified, according to police. State Police handled the scene, according to police. 

11:36 a.m.: Police responded to the area of Boardman and Damon Avenues on a report of a street sign down. DPW was notified, according to police. 

12:39 p.m.: Police called to Green Street on a report of harassment. A report was taken.

4:22 p.m.: Police responded to Adams Street for a report of a past breaking and entering into a residence. A report was taken.

Feb. 14

8:07 a.m.: Police responded to the area of Corey and Grove Streets for a report of hypodermic needles found in the street. Police retrieved the needles and disposed of them properly.

6:01 p.m.: Police called to Lebanon Street for a report of a carbon monoxide alarm. No transports logged.

7:09 p.m.: Police responded to the Lebanon and Park Streets area for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Two cars were towed from the scene, according to police. No transports logged.

Feb. 15

8:40 a.m.: Police responded to West Emerson Street for a report of a medical emergency. The caller reported that a female had slipped on an icy sidewalk and possibly broken her foot, according to police. The female was transported to a hospital, according to police.

9:11 a.m.: Police called to the area of Lebanon and East Foster Streets for a report of a strong odor of natural gas. The Fire Department was notified, according to police. 

1:35 p.m.: Police responded to Upham Street for a report of a dog stuck in a fence. The animal was freed, according to police.

3:01 p.m.: Police responded to Linden Road on a report of a man allegedly exposing himself. A suspect could not be located, according to police.

5:50 p.m.: Police called to Winthrop Street for a report of an opossum on their neighbor's porch. The animal control officer was notified, according to police.

7:42 p.m.: Police responded to a Pleasant Street apartment for a report of their mail being tampered with. A report was taken.

Feb. 16

11:24 a.m.: Police called to West Wyoming Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle accident. No tows or transports logged. A report was taken.

3:56 p.m.: Police and Fire responded to Beacon Street for a report of smoke in the house. Problem resolved.

Feb. 17

11:19 a.m.: Police called to the area of Farwell and Hesseltine Avenues on a report of an open manhole cover. The manhole cover was put back on, but DPW needed to check to make sure it was secure, according to police. DPW was notified, according to police.

11:25 a.m.: Police responded to the area of Upham and Parker Streets for a report of a large pothole. DPW was notified, according to police.

12:51 p.m.: Police called to West Wyoming Avenue for a complaint about a plow truck pushing snow into a resident's driveway. Police spoke with the property owner and were expected to call the contractor to have them remove the snow.

3:57 p.m.: Police responded to Franklin Early Childhood Center for a report of a disturbance. The caller reported that the school bell has been stuck on for about 30 minutes, according to police. 

5:06 p.m.: Police called to the area of Cass and East Foster Streets on a report of an odor of gas outside a building. Firefighters responded to the scene, and they were expected to notify National Grid, according to police. 

5:21 p.m.: Police responded to Sylvan Street for a report of a car that struck a fence. A report was taken.
