Police: Several Bullets Fired Into West Wyoming Avenue Home

A home on West Wyoming Avenue was shot several times late Thursday night, according to a Melrose Police press statement issued Friday.

At 11:50 p.m. Thursday, Melrose Police responded to West Wyoming Avenue near the Main Street intersection after receiving multiple calls about shots fired in the area, according to the statement.

"Units that responded were met by witnesses that were in the area at the time," reads the statement. "It was apparent that several shots were fired from a vehicle into a multiple unit residence at 19 West Wyoming (Ave.)."

After determining that no one was injured during the shooting, the scene was secured and a Melrose Police Detective unit responded to and processed the scene, according to the statement.

Detectives were able to locate several rounds lodged in the front of the building that they believed to be from a handgun, according to the statement.

In a phone call to Melrose Lt. Mark DeCroteau on Friday, he declined to comment on the suspect vehicle or the suspect(s) that may have been involved in the shooting. However, he did say that an update on the case is expected to be made later in the day.

As of 12:30 p.m., police had made no arrests in the case.
