Two Malden Teens Arrested for Felony Breaking and Entering

The alleged incident occurred on Cricklewood Ln. in Melrose.

MELROSE, MA—Two Malden Teens were arrested for allegedly breaking an entering into two vehicles at a Cricklewood Ln. residence early Friday morning.

According to a statement from the Melrose Police Department, two teens, ages 16 and 17, have been arrested for allegedly breaking and entering into a vehicle during the nighttime for a felony. Nothing was taken from the vehicles, according to police.

"We have seen a rise in motor vehicle break-ins in multiple communities over the last several months," Melrose Chief Michael Lyle said in a statement. "Fortunately, nothing was taken from the vehicles in this case. However, I want to remind residents to always lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight, even if the vehicle is parked in your driveway."

Police report that they had responded to a call from a resident on Cricklewood Ln. stating that there were two suspects on hand. Police were later met by two men identified as off-duty police officers from a neighboring community, who reported that two suspects were going through two vehicles parked in the driveway.

The off-duty officers had the two suspects wait on the pavement until Melrose Police arrived. A third suspect fled the scene, according to police.

Both suspects will be arraigned in Middlesex Juvenile Court.
